Meet Alicia:

Alicia Bynoe was born in Barbados and immigrated to New Jersey at the age of three.  From an early age art was her favorite pastime.  She enjoyed coloring books, drawing supermodels, jungle scenes, and anything her imagination would allow.  Her mother was also a skilled artist, and helped nurture Alicia’s creativity by drawing with her often.   Soon her interest in art blossomed into a serious passion.

Alicia, Staff

Alicia always knew that she wanted a career related to art.  Her love of children led her to pursue a career in teaching because it was the greatest way to share her passion with others.  Alicia attended Kean University and received her BA in Fine Arts Education In May of 2008.  She currently teaches elementary art in Bernards Township.  She utilized her knowledge of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, computer arts, and a variety of media to inspire her lessons.

In addition to teaching full-time, Alicia wanted to further enhance her skills by going back to Kean University to obtain her MA in Fine Arts Education.  She focused her attention on mastering watercolors and exhibited a series inspired by her old neighborhood.  She also loves to visit galleries and museums to stay current in the art community.  Some of her favorite artists include, Andrew Wyeth for his subdued color palette, Salvador Dali for his surreal dreamlike paintings, Caravaggio for his dramatic use of light and dark, and contemporary artist Wangechi Mutu for her unique use of collage.

Alicia always enjoys a glass of wine to get the creative juices flowing.  In the winter months she appreciates a nice glass of Shiraz or Rioja, and who doesn’t love a nice refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio during the summer.  If she is feeling a little adventurous she may opt for Rosé.

What Makes Kayla's Unique?

Posted Friday, June 12,2015

As we approach our one year anniversary, we took some time to reflect on what we accomplished at Kayla’s Creative Art Studio over the last year.   When my husband and I developed the plan for Kayla’s, our main objective was to provide a unique five star paint and sip experience to the community in a relaxed upscale atmosphere.  We wanted each and every customer to walk away with an exceptional experience and above all, in a better mood than when they came to Kayla’s.  I tell all art instructors I hire that if they do not have fun teaching at Kayla’s, then this job is not for them.   At the end of the day, Kayla’s is a place for people to unwind, forget about a difficult day,  and have fun with friends or new friends they meet at Kayla’s.   Thanks to repeat customers and feedback we received from them, we have accomplished these goals, although there is always room for improvement.   The first year was not without its challenges, but we take feedback to heart and continue to improve the experience we provide to our customers. It is was also a very important objective of ours to support the community and those less fortunate than us.   We held many fundraisers for different causes over the last year and will continue to do so in the future.  Giving back is a core value at Kayla’s. What makes Kayla’s unique is not only the warm and inviting atmosphere at the studio, but the quality of service we provide.   We go out of our way to accommodate our customers, including flexibility with time and providing additional assistance to those who need it.   We even provide complementary coffee, tea and bottled water.   We are not just another Paint and Sip art studio.

Make Time for Yourself at Kayla’s Creative Art Studio

Posted Friday, December 26,2014

We hear it more and more often how important it is to make time for yourself and to give your mind a rest.  Many of us fall into the trap of trying to get through the day just to go to sleep and start our same day over again the next morning, whether it is taking care of the children, a spouse, or elderly parents, going to work, or anything else that demands our time.   Very rarely do we demand time for ourselves. Painting at Kayla’s Creative Art Studio is a great way to take a break from everyday life and provide yourself not only with a physical rest, but a mental rest too.  Make painting at Kayla's a New Years resolution. Contact Kayla’s about scheduling time to come into the studio to paint.  We will provide all materials including 16” x 20” canvas, paint, brushes, easels, and aprons.  We even provide complementary coffee, tea and bottled water. Call (908) 516-2670 or email us at to schedule "me time".  Come by yourself  or with a group of friends also in need of "me time".
