Meet Alicia:

Alicia Bynoe was born in Barbados and immigrated to New Jersey at the age of three.  From an early age art was her favorite pastime.  She enjoyed coloring books, drawing supermodels, jungle scenes, and anything her imagination would allow.  Her mother was also a skilled artist, and helped nurture Alicia’s creativity by drawing with her often.   Soon her interest in art blossomed into a serious passion.

Alicia, Staff

Alicia always knew that she wanted a career related to art.  Her love of children led her to pursue a career in teaching because it was the greatest way to share her passion with others.  Alicia attended Kean University and received her BA in Fine Arts Education In May of 2008.  She currently teaches elementary art in Bernards Township.  She utilized her knowledge of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, computer arts, and a variety of media to inspire her lessons.

In addition to teaching full-time, Alicia wanted to further enhance her skills by going back to Kean University to obtain her MA in Fine Arts Education.  She focused her attention on mastering watercolors and exhibited a series inspired by her old neighborhood.  She also loves to visit galleries and museums to stay current in the art community.  Some of her favorite artists include, Andrew Wyeth for his subdued color palette, Salvador Dali for his surreal dreamlike paintings, Caravaggio for his dramatic use of light and dark, and contemporary artist Wangechi Mutu for her unique use of collage.

Alicia always enjoys a glass of wine to get the creative juices flowing.  In the winter months she appreciates a nice glass of Shiraz or Rioja, and who doesn’t love a nice refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio during the summer.  If she is feeling a little adventurous she may opt for Rosé.

Make Time for Yourself at Kayla’s Creative Art Studio

Posted Friday, December 26,2014

We hear it more and more often how important it is to make time for yourself and to give your mind a rest.  Many of us fall into the trap of trying to get through the day just to go to sleep and start our same day over again the next morning, whether it is taking care of the children, a spouse, or elderly parents, going to work, or anything else that demands our time.   Very rarely do we demand time for ourselves. Painting at Kayla’s Creative Art Studio is a great way to take a break from everyday life and provide yourself not only with a physical rest, but a mental rest too.  Make painting at Kayla's a New Years resolution. Contact Kayla’s about scheduling time to come into the studio to paint.  We will provide all materials including 16” x 20” canvas, paint, brushes, easels, and aprons.  We even provide complementary coffee, tea and bottled water. Call (908) 516-2670 or email us at info@kaylascreativeartstudio.com to schedule "me time".  Come by yourself  or with a group of friends also in need of "me time".
